Rule III of the Standing Rules of the United States Senate,established by the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration governs the oath of office of Senators. Article Six of the United States Constitution provides that Senators, as well as all other federal office-holders, "shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution." Section 3331 of Title 5 of the United States Code establishes the oath of office. ==Oath== "I, ''(name of Senator)'', do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
